Hero Locksmith FAQs

Hero Locksmith Edinburgh FAQs

What areas does Hero Locksmith cover?

I am an Edinburgh locksmith so cover the Edinburgh area as well as the towns of Penicuik, Musselburgh, Dalkeith, Bonnyrigg, Loanhead, Balerno, Livingston, South Queensferry, Currie and all the areas in between.

Are you available in the evening and at weekends?

Yes, I am an emergency locksmith and I am available early til late, 7 days a week.

How long will it take for you to arrive at my property?

I provide a very fast response service and because I am a local locksmith, I know the quickest routes day and night. I can reach most properties within 30 minutes of you calling but am usually quicker (around 20 minutes).

If I am locked out, how long will it take you to get me back inside?

This will depend on the type of lock that is on your property. It can take anything from 1 minute for a Yale lock to 15 minutes for more complicated locks.

If I am locked out, how much damage will there be in gaining access?

I am trained in non-destructive emergency entry techniques so I will always try these methods first before I will resort to destroying the old lock. Even if there is no other option and the old lock has to be removed and replaced, I will always leave your door looking as good as when I found it.

How much will I be charged for a call out?

I do not have a ‘call out charge’. Unlike many big national locksmith companies, I only charge for parts (locks etc.) and the work that I carry out at your property. If you call me and describe your problem, I can usually give you a reasonably accurate quote for the full job. You will not be left guessing until I arrive at your door. Also, I am not VAT registered so the price that I quote will usually be the FULL PRICE that you pay.

Will I always need a new lock?

No, this is not always necessary. I will always try and repair your current lock first in order to keep the cost down. However if this is not possible or you would like a more secure lock fitted then I will go ahead and replace it.

Will you have the lock I need in your van?

I carry a wide selection of the most popular locks (in various finishes) in my van, ready to fit there and then. However on very rare occasions, I have to place an order for a non-standard lock. If this happens, when it arrives in, I will call you straight away to arrange a time to come back and fit it.

How much will a new lock cost?

New locks vary in price between roughly £15 and £70. Very few domestic locks on the market cost more than £70. On top of this you will also be charged labour costs i.e. the price to fit the lock. This will depend on the type of lock that is being fitted. I can usually give you a pretty accurate quote for the full job over the phone.

Can I book a specific time for you to come to my property?

Yes, I can arrange to visit at a time that is most suitable for you. While I am there, I can also carry out an assessment of your lock security (doors /windows/ outbuildings etc.) throughout your property, if required.

Does my new lock come with a guarantee?

Yes, all new parts that I fit come with a 12 month guarantee.
